Dima Slobodeniouk will renew his contract with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia until 2022

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (OSG) will keep Dima Slobodeniouk as their principal conductor for 3 more years. This was announced by the Consorcio para la Promoción de la Música, which confirmed the that the Russian conductor will remain as the orchestra’s lead until 2022. Once his contract is renewed in 2019, Mr. Slobodeniouk will have been in his position for almost a decade. He will face new challenges in the coming years, including recordings and national and international tours.

Since Slobodeniouk took on this position five years ago, he has played a vital part in the further development of the orchestra’s artistic reputation on a national and international level. Slobodeniouk now looks forward to embarking on further musical projects with the orchestra, including recordings with the Swedish record label BIS, who have recently commenced an extensive collaboration with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, as well as tours throughout Spain and beyond.

This announcement, which will take effect in 2019, resonates with the conductor’s international career development. Last season, he gave his successful debuts with the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks; further highlights this season are his debuts with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony Orchestras and NHK Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Dima Slobodeniouk became Music Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia in 2013, triggering the take-off of the orchestra’s own YouTube channel. To this day, it has obtained more than 6.5 million views of its 333 videos published.
